APC caucus dismisses claims on Doguwa’s ticket, warns against party disunity

Kola Oyelere, Kano

The leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) caucus in Tudun Wada Local Government Area of Kano State has dismissed reports alleging that Alhassan Ado Doguwa lost his party’s return ticket to the National Assembly ahead of the forthcoming general elections.

Speaking under the chairmanship of Nura Dankadai, the caucus described the claims as unfounded and baseless, attributing them to political opponents seeking to create confusion within the party.

The caucus specifically accused the local government party chairperson, Saadatu Soja, and her associates of spreading misinformation.

It alleged that the reports were part of efforts by political actors who had previously suffered electoral defeats to destabilise the party’s structure in the area.

According to the caucus, a formal memorandum endorsing Doguwa for continuity had already been submitted to the Kano State APC headquarters, reaffirming his candidacy for the Doguwa/Tudun Wada Federal Constituency.

The group expressed concern that what it described as “misleading actions” by the local leadership could undermine unity and peace in a region long regarded as an APC stronghold. It called on the state chapter of the party to intervene and address the situation.

The caucus further alleged that recent political activities involving the local chairperson, including meetings purportedly held to endorse non-existent candidates, had previously attracted reprimand from the state party leadership.

It warned that continued dissemination of unverified information could heighten tensions among party members and potentially lead to unrest.

Reaffirming its position, the caucus maintained that Doguwa remains the duly recognised APC candidate for the House of Representatives seat, citing his record of representation at the National Assembly as justification for continued support.
