Former Kano State Governor and former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has denied reports claiming he accused the Kano State Government of mismanaging public funds through payments made to former councillors.

The source of this misleading publication is currently being traced and necessary legal steps will be taken once those behind it are identified,” he said

In a statement issued on Friday by his Chief of Staff, Comrade Muhammad Garba, Ganduje described the report as false, misleading and entirely unfounded, insisting that he never granted any interview in which such allegations were made.

The statement questioned the credibility of the publication, noting that it failed to provide essential details such as the venue, date, time, media platform or journalist involved in the purported interview.

According to the statement, there was no occasion on which the former governor made the comments attributed to him, alleging that the report was deliberately fabricated to misrepresent his position and fuel unnecessary political tension.

Garba stated that Ganduje, as an elder statesman with access to officials at both the federal and state levels, understands the proper channels for expressing his views on governance.

“Given his status as an elder statesman who has access to government officials at both the national and state levels, it will be unbecoming of Dr. Ganduje to invite the media to publicly express his views on how governments are being run,” the statement said.

It added that whenever necessary, Ganduje offers constructive advice through appropriate channels rather than making unverified public statements.

The statement also disclosed that efforts were underway to trace the origin of the publication, warning that legal action would be taken against those responsible once they are identified.

“The source of this misleading publication is currently being traced and necessary legal steps will be taken once those behind it are identified,” the statement added.

Ganduje urged the public to disregard the report and called on media organisations and individuals to verify information before publication, particularly on sensitive matters involving public figures.

He reaffirmed his commitment to peace, accountability and responsible political engagement while urging adherence to professional standards in public communication.
