THE All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano has threatened legal action against alleged, factional spokesperson of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Ibrahim Karaye, over allegations that the Kano State Government influenced court proceedings.

In a statement issued in Kano, the APC spokesperson, Auwalu Soja Gwale, said the party had given Karaye a 72-hour ultimatum to retract the claims or face court action.

The party described the allegation as false and defamatory, insisting that it lacked evidence and was intended to discredit the judiciary.

According to the statement, Karaye was also asked to tender a public apology and refrain from making similar allegations, warning that failure to comply would result in legal action.

The APC specifically denied claims that the Kano State Government paid large sums of money to influence proceedings at a High Court in Abuja, maintaining that no such interference had occurred.

It described the allegation as “false, malicious and legally indefensible,” stressing that the state government had never interfered in judicial processes.

The party further alleged that the claims reflected a pattern of “reckless rhetoric” by some elements within the NNPP, particularly when political outcomes do not favour them.

The APC also urged the Kwankwasiyya faction of the NNPP to focus on resolving its internal disputes, citing ongoing litigations involving factions linked to Boniface Aniebonam and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.

It added that it was inappropriate for a political group facing internal challenges to accuse the judiciary of corruption without evidence, and called on the public to disregard the allegations.

The party reaffirmed its commitment to the rule of law and respect for judicial independence.
