Basic fire safety: Kano CP commends FFS for training 100 police personnel’s

The Kano State Commissioner of Police ,Mr.Ibrahim Adam Bakori,has commended the Federal Fire Service( FFS) over training of 100 Police Officers on ‘Basic Fire Safety and Firefighting Skills.
He added that “This initiative is a commendable step toward equipping our officers with critical knowledge and practical skills to respond effectively to fire emergencies”
Mr Bakori made this known on Tuesday,on the occasion of the 2025 fire safety week launch at the state police headquarters Bompai Kano
” I am particularly pleased that this year’s Fire Safety Week includes the *training of 100 Police Officers on ‘Basic Fire Safety and Firefighting Skills.” he said
According to him”This event is a significant step toward raising awareness about fire safety and enhancing our collective capacity to prevent and respond to fire incidents effectively.”
He however noted that” Fire
safety is an essential component of public safety, and by empowering our officers with these skills, we are not only enhancing their capacity but also strengthening the overall safety framework of Kano State.”
Mr. Bakori then emphasized that
” Your dedication to equipping personnel and institutions with the necessary skills and knowledge to prevent and respond to fire incidents has undoubtedly helped in saving countless lives and properties.”
Earlier,the Federal Fire Service Kano state command Engr.KazeemSholadoye,said”An event designed to holistically aimed at ” Sensitize our people and raise their alertness and consciousness on the dangers of uncontrolled fires especially with the harsh weather due to climate change through exposing them to ways of identifying and managing possible risks, hazards and dangers within their homes and workplaces which may pose threat to their lives, properties and the environment across the globe.”
He also added that it aimed at ,”Get our people in the right frame of mind to further embrace Government strategies, policies and technological advancement that capable of curtailing the menace of losses in terms of lives and property in our society.”
“Educate people on basic techniques of handling Fire especially at incipient state using simple/portable fire fighting equipments, among others,” he noted
