Kano Govt empowers 5,200 women, with N260m grant

Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf,in his effort to promote economic inclusion and uplift families across the state, has launched a major empowerment initiative providing N50,000 monthly support to 5,200 women,which amounted N260 million
Making this known during the
flagged off at the Government House, Kano, the governor said is aimed at l reducing poverty, strengthening small-scale enterprises, and promoting self-reliance among vulnerable women.
He noted that ” Some of the measures taken included the state government setting up a 20-member committee in each LGA, comprising traditional rulers, the LG chairman, the party chairman, among other members”
According to him, empowering women is central to his administration’s development vision.
He noted that the beneficiaries were carefully selected to ensure equitable representation and maximum community impact.
He added that ” This support is designed to help women expand small businesses, stabilize their households, and contribute meaningfully to our state’s economy,”
According to him,” Following
the discovery of discrepancies in the disbursement during the first phase, we introduced measures to ensure the money reaches the targeted beneficiaries,” .
Gov .Yusuf also emphasised that
women are key drivers of social and economic progress, and his government will continue to implement policies that enhance their productivity and independence.
Earlier, the Deputy Governor, Comrade Aminu Gwarzo, stated that the present government will continue to make life meaningful for the teeming masses through executing friendly projects
He then urged the people of the state to rally around the administration of governor Yusuf ,through prayers
Comrade Gwarzo then disclosed that all these initiative are a tip of ice bag adding that more are still coming
He howeve cautioned the beneficiaries against misusing the funds, as they are meant to support them in improving their well-being.
Earlier,the Chairperson of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Kano State Chapter, Hajiya Saadatu Yusha’u, hailed the initiative as a “landmark in grassroots empowerment,” commending the governor for prioritizing women’s welfare and economic growth.
She then urged the beneficiaries to utilize the funds wisely to transform their livelihoods and support the administration’s vision for sustainable community development.
