ASUU-KUST commends Kano Govt for implementing 2025 FGN/ASUU agreement

ASUU-KUST commends Kano Govt for implementing 2025 FGN/ASUU agreement

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Kano University of Science and Technology (KUST), Wudil chapter, has commended the Kano State Government for domesticating and fully implementing the 2025 Federal Government of Nigeria (FGN)/ASUU Agreement.

. However,the union described Kano as one of the first states in the country to fully implement the provisions of the agreement at the state-owned university

The commendation was contained in a statement issued, by the Chairman of ASUU-KUST, Dr. Aliyu Yusuf Ahmad, and the union’s Secretary, Dr. Yusuf Shehu, following its congress meeting.

ASUU-KUST expressed appreciation to the administration of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for its efforts to improve the welfare and working conditions of staff of the institution.

It also acknowledged the state government’s support for the development of the university and its efforts to enhance the welfare of academic staff.

The union said the development was particularly significant as it coincided with the celebration of Teachers’ Day and the 60th anniversary of the historic ILO/UNESCO Recommendation concerning teachers’ rights, responsibilities and professional working conditions.

ASUU-KUST urged the state government to sustain its commitment to policies and programmes aimed at improving the welfare of university staff and enhancing the quality of education across Kano State.

The union further stressed the importance of continued collaboration between the government and academic staff in strengthening the state’s higher education sector.
