Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has brokered a reconciliation between Deputy Senate President, Senator Barau I. Jibrin, and Chairman of the House Committee on Appropriations, Hon. Abubakar Kabir Bichi, in a move aimed at strengthening unity within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State.

The reconciliation meeting, which was held in Abuja in the early hours of Wednesday, lasted about two hours and provided an opportunity for the two prominent APC leaders to resolve their differences and discuss the need for greater cooperation in the interest of the party.

A statement by the Director-General, Media and Publicity, Government House, Kano, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa that was made available to press in Kano ,said Gov. Yusuf told Barau, Bichi and their supporters to sheathe their swords.

Governor Yusuf urged Barau, Bichi and their supporters to sheathe their swords and set aside their grievances, stressing that the success of the APC depended on unity, mutual understanding and collective commitment among its leaders and members.

Ahead of the 2027 general elections, the governor called on the two leaders and other party stakeholders to work together for the success of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Kano State Government and all APC candidates.

He said political disagreements were part of democratic engagement but should not be allowed to undermine the unity, stability and progress of the party.

Yusuf also urged supporters of the two political figures to desist from inflammatory statements, character assassination and other actions capable of deepening divisions within the party.

“Henceforth, I do not expect any of your supporters to come out and abuse one another. We must put a stop to this unnecessary distraction,” the governor said.

He stressed that the APC remained one family and urged its stakeholders to resolve internal disagreements through dialogue, consultation and mutual respect.

According to the statement, the reconciliation process received the endorsement of President Tinubu and has brought an end to what it described as a major misunderstanding between the two Kano APC leaders.

Governor Yusuf also assured the President, the APC National Chairman, Kano State Chairman and other critical stakeholders of the commitment of the party in Kano to work collectively ahead of the 2027 elections.
