Kano Govt gives 45,850 girl child N20,000 each, to boost their education

Kano State Government has said that in order to encourage girl child education,saying through Agile project presented N20,000 conditional cash transfer (CCT) each to over 45,850 girl child to enhance their education.
He also stated that to enhance Girl Child Education, the state government,”had repaired over 70 grounded Girl Child Shuttle Buses to ease transportation difficulties faced by Girls students adding that this is free  for all girl child attending Scholl’s in the state”
This was just as the state government reaffirmed its commitment to promote Girl Child Education in the state.
The State Commissioner of Education Dr. Ali Haruna Makoda gave the assurance, at a program organized on ‘Strengthening Girls’ Education in Nigeria’ supported by MALALA FUND,
He said Kano Government in collaboration with Partnership For learning for All in Nigeria (PLANE) had succeeded in aligning its existing education policies with current reality in which Girl Child Policy is one of them.
The remaining policies reviewed according to the Commissioner, include Teacher development policy, Non-state policy  and Education law policy which the Governor had already approved for implementation.
Ali Makoda recalled that the administration of Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf had recently launched free schools’ uniforms distribution to over 796,000 pupils across the state, stressing that….”this gesture provides financial support to parent in enrolling their Girl child to school”.
Makoda announced that a very powerful committee was established by the administration to critically look into the issues of out of school children and restructuring the schooling system to  increase the number of Girls attending school.
According to a statement issued by Director Public Enlightenment
Ministry of Education, Kano State,Balarabe Abdullahi Kiru however added that the  programme which has 10 states as participants including Kano, discussed on several issues related to Girl’s Education financing, political will and gender responsive budgeting.
It however had a look at performance assessment and state level financing of education reports dissemination.
