IN a significant boost to human capital development, Senator Badawi Jibril Malia, Deputy President of the Senate, has successfully sponsored 26 students to complete postgraduate studies in India, covering fields such as forensic science, artificial intelligence, and other advanced areas.
The students, hailing from various parts of Kano State, received 100% scholarships, including stipends, under a programme aimed at fostering education and societal development.
Speaking at a celebratory event, Professor Muhammad Ibn Abdullahi, Chief of Staff to the Deputy Senate President, highlighted that all students completed their programmes successfully, achieving outstanding results.
“This is a major contribution to human development,” Ibn Abdullahi said. “Education is one of the best interventions you can offer. These students will now contribute to their families, communities, and society at large.”
The initiative is part of a larger scholarship programme by Senator Malia, who has previously supported thousands of students domestically.
Future batches are expected to return from their international studies by May and June, continuing the cycle of educational sponsorship.
Special emphasis was placed on the ICT sector, reflecting the global trend towards technology-driven development.
“Investing in ICT and other critical areas ensures that these students can play vital roles in national and global development,” Ibn Abdullahi noted.
Senator Malia’s intervention extends beyond Kano North, his senatorial district, benefiting students across the entire state.
Beneficiaries are expected to leverage their knowledge to drive employment, socio-economic growth, and security improvements within their communities.
The programme underscores the Deputy Senate President’s commitment to education as a tool for societal transformation, aiming to produce skilled graduates capable of shaping Kano State’s and Nigeria’s future.
