A group under the auspice of 97 Northern Consensus Movement For Peace Unity Empowerment and Development initiative (NSNCM) have vehemently called for immediate suspension of the planned protests scheduled to commence from August 1st,2024, warning that it might leads to mayhem and anarchy
However, the  National President of the Group, Comrade Awwal Abdullahi Aliyu, made this known to press  at the end of the meeting ,held on Monday in Kano
According to him, protest will not solve the current economic woes the country is facing rather it will help aggravate the situation.
“I agree that there is wide spread of  hunger, which has led  to anger and frustration  in the land, but it is clear that the present Government, was aware of it ,hence the need for Nigerians should give President Tinubu chance to address  the situation”.
Comrade  Abdullahi, who stated that under the tensed economic situation the country is passing through, if we citizens are allowed to comes out en -mass there will be looting, destruction and killings which will rather set the nation 50 years back.
He however disclosed that the group have met with the Arewa Development Agenda and reviews the situation and agreed that they should give the Government a chance to correct the wrong economic policies they have.
“We should listen to the wise advises givens by so many men of God, traditional leaders and others that protest is not the best option now, we should allow government to come up with a quick alternative to the hardship the citizens were bedeviling with “
There would be progress ,if we give a peace to reign , by shelve the plan protest ,the group said
