AN associate Professor of University of Leicer, Hajiya Zainab Ladan Mai- Borno, has said that the best way to curb rampant case of Gender Base Violent ( GBV) which is causing untold hardship, frustration and untimely death in the society ,is for both husband and wife, to respect each other’s and
not to see each other’s as pounching bags at any eruption of a minor quarrel
This was just as She stated that women and girls are major  victims of violent and insecurity in the country
Making this known during a workshop organised for Civil Society, traditional rulers in Kano,Hajiya Zainab said there is need to embrace a bottom way approach of communication and do away with top way approach, so that the grassroot level would understand the effect of GBV
While speaking on theme titled ” Theory of change, women’s participation in peacebuilding process” Theory if change on addressing violence against women” Hajiya Zainab stressed the  need  for a positive understanding between husband and wife
She then disclosed that this kind of programme was held at the Niger Delta area of the country and the organization felt that the GBV also happening in the northern part of the country ,hence the need to host the program here in the north
The organization then resolved to organised this in the northern part of the country by gathered the CSO, traditional leaders as well as elders to discuss on way to tackle the rampant cases of GBV
According to her”Anything that affects women and girls goes beyond religion and ethnics device   adding that the organizers is looking for ways of gathered women from Niger Delta and Northern part of the country together and rub mind on how to address the GBV
To also talk on the issue of giving women more opportunities as a local leaders ,  by engage them in peacebuilding  and decision making at the highest levels,a lot of remarkable improvement would be achieved.
She however disclosed that when we talk about GBV,is not only women that were being affected men were also victims of GBV,hence the need to treat each other’s with dignity, interim of humanity and without being oppressed.
She called on husbands to be cautious of way they treat their wife infront of their children noting that the children sees how their mothers were been maltreated saying this negative attitude does not augur well for the proper upbringing of these children
Hajiya Zainab hinted that it is normal ,that husband that has tiger faces  and failed to respect the dignity of his wife can not expected the wife to.be subservient nor respect such an husband
Both husband, wife and even children have to inculcates the habit of respect each other’s and these would ensure a better society
