The Kano State chapter of Jama’atu Izalatul Bidi’a Wa Iqamatis Sunnah (JIBWIS) has endorsed Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for a second term, citing his administration’s development strides and commitment to improving the lives of residents.

The endorsement was announced by the Chairman of the Kano State chapter of JIBWIS, Professor Abdullahi Saleh, when he received the governor during a condolence visit to his residence following the death of his wife.

According to a statement issued by the Director General of Media and Publicity, Government House Kano, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, Professor Saleh commended Governor Yusuf for personally leading the condolence visit, describing the gesture as one of compassion, humility and respect for religious leaders.

The cleric said the achievements recorded under the current administration had restored public confidence in governance and repositioned Kano as a model of purposeful and people-centred leadership.

He added that the administration’s ongoing development projects required continuity, arguing that another four-year term would enable the government to consolidate its achievements, expand reforms and fully implement its long-term development agenda.

On behalf of the Kano State chapter of JIBWIS, Professor Saleh formally endorsed Governor Yusuf’s second-term bid, expressing confidence that the governor would further improve the welfare of the people if re-elected.

Responding, Governor Yusuf thanked the Islamic scholar for his prayers, encouragement and support for the administration’s development agenda.

The governor also extended his condolences over the death of Professor Saleh’s wife, praying for Allah’s mercy upon the deceased and for strength for the bereaved family.

Governor Yusuf commended Islamic scholars across Kano State for promoting peace, unity, religious harmony and moral values, describing their contributions as vital to maintaining stability and social cohesion.

He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to working closely with religious institutions and leaders to preserve Kano’s religious and cultural values while promoting peaceful coexistence and sustainable development.

The governor also pledged to sustain the implementation of people-oriented policies and programmes aimed at improving the living standards of residents in line with the mandate given to his administration.
