2027: APC endorses Yusuf for second term, pledges support for Tinubu

Kola Oyelere Kano

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State has unanimously endorsed Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf as its sole consensus candidate for the 2027 governorship election, with the governor assuring party members of total support for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the next general election.

Governor Yusuf declared that party loyalists and supporters across Kano State would work tirelessly to ensure landslide victories for all APC candidates, including those contesting for the State House of Assembly, House of
Representatives and Senate seats

.
The endorsement was announced during a large-scale party congress held at Sani Abacha Stadium, where thousands of supporters, delegates and political stakeholders gathered to reaffirm their support for the governor’s administration.

The event attracted prominent APC figures, including members of the National Assembly, party executives and influential political leaders from across the state, highlighting the significance of the congress ahead of the 2027 elections.

Presenting the motion for Governor Yusuf’s adoption, the Deputy President of the Senate, Barau Jibrin, commended the governor’s leadership style and developmental achievements, noting that his administration had strengthened public confidence in the party.

Barau said the governor’s performance in key sectors justified the need for continuity, stressing that party members believed Yusuf remained the best candidate to lead Kano State for another term.

The motion was seconded by the Senator representing Kano South Senatorial District, Abdulrahman Kawu Sumaila, who stated that APC supporters across the state were united behind the governor and prepared to secure victory for the party in the next governorship election.

Following the motion, delegates at the congress overwhelmingly affirmed Governor Yusuf as the APC’s consensus governorship candidate amid loud cheers from party faithful.

Speaking on behalf of the party’s national leadership, the Chairman of the Congress, Mukhtar Shagari, described the endorsement as a reflection of the governor’s commitment to good governance and grassroots development.

Shagari said the massive turnout at the congress demonstrated public appreciation for the administration’s policies and programmes, particularly in infrastructure, education, healthcare and youth empowerment.

He expressed confidence that the APC would retain Kano State in 2027, adding that the party remained committed to sustaining ongoing development projects across the state.

In his remarks, Governor Yusuf thanked party leaders and supporters for the confidence reposed in him and pledged to intensify efforts toward delivering more dividends of democracy to the people of Kano State.

The governor assured residents that his administration would continue to execute projects aimed at improving living standards and boosting economic growth across the state.

He also reaffirmed his commitment to transparent governance, inclusive leadership and the unity of the party ahead of the 2027 elections.

The congress ended with renewed calls for unity among party members as supporters celebrated what many described as a strong show of political solidarity ahead of the forthcoming polls.
