Tinubu’s trillion-Naira Northern projects will guarantee 2027 victory, APC Chieftain Says

Kola Oyelere Kano

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State, Dr. Musa Iliyasu Kwankwaso, has expressed confidence that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will secure a landslide victory in Northern Nigeria during the 2027 presidential election, citing what he described as massive development projects worth trillions of naira executed across the region.

Kwankwaso made the assertion in a statement issued to journalists in Kano on Saturday, highlighting several ongoing infrastructure, transportation, agricultural, ecological, and healthcare projects undertaken by the Tinubu administration.

According to him, key projects include the Kano–Kongolom Road, a 132-kilometre highway project valued at N334 billion and designed to improve connectivity between Kano, Jigawa, and Katsina states.

He also pointed to the ongoing reconstruction of the Abuja–Kaduna–Kano Expressway, which is being built using continuous reinforced concrete pavement technology and incorporates enhanced security features.

Kwankwaso further praised the Sokoto–Badagry Superhighway project, a proposed 1,068-kilometre six-lane economic corridor with an integrated rail line.

He said the project would significantly improve economic integration and transportation links across the country, particularly benefiting the Northern region.

The APC stalwart also highlighted the Kano Eastern Bypass, a 37.8-kilometre dual carriageway with multiple bridges aimed at diverting heavy industrial traffic away from Kano metropolis, noting that the project is nearing completion.

On rail transportation, he described the Kano–Maradi Rail Line as a flagship project that will ease the movement of goods and strengthen trade links between Nigeria and the Republic of Niger.

The 284-kilometre rail line traverses Kano, Jigawa, and Katsina states.

Kwankwaso said the administration is also making significant progress on the 614-kilometre Ajaokuta–Abuja–Kaduna–Kano (AKK) Gas Pipeline project, which he said would boost industrialisation, domestic gas supply, and power generation across Northern Nigeria.

He commended the Federal Government’s ecological and agricultural interventions, particularly the Jakara–Gogau–Zungeru Project in Kano, for which N47 billion was approved to address flooding and improve urban sanitation through a comprehensive drainage and sewage system.

The APC leader added that the Federal Government had released multi-billion naira interventions for 16 dams in Kano State, including the Challawa Gorge and Tiga dams, as part of efforts to enhance irrigation and agricultural productivity under the Kano River Project.

In the healthcare sector, Kwankwaso said the Tinubu administration has continued to upgrade federal teaching hospitals across the North while revitalising thousands of primary healthcare centres through the IMPACT programme.

He maintained that the scale of development projects being implemented by the administration had strengthened public support for the President in the region.

“President Tinubu should sleep with his two eyes closed because his reelection bid is already a done deal and the North and Kano in particular will give him massive votes that will speedily secure his victory come 2027,” Kwankwaso stated.
