Allow your children to study courses of their choice – Rev’d Dr Ajayi counsels parents

The Proprietor of Baptist Academy Kano, Rev Dr. Armstrong Olatunde Ajayi has urged parents to allow their children go for the courses of their choice and avoid forcing them to do courses they dislike.
However,Rev Ajayi, the Minister of First Baptist Church Kano gave
the counsel at the graduation ceremony of the academy held in the school premises to mark the 60th anniversary of the Academy.
According to him ” Baptist Academy Kano was founded in the year 1965, so this year’s graduation is the Diamond Jubilee of the school drawing people from all walks of life to join the academy in marking 60 years of nurturing excellence, character and future leaders.”
Reverend Dr Ajayi said” if children will fulfill their purpose in life, parent are only expected to guide the children in making their choices with deeper considerations on their children’s area of interest and giftedness.”
He then added that “Baptist Academy Kano is blessed with qualified teachers in different disciplines, having a specialist as the School Counselor and a conducive environment that will be of help towards bringing into reality the dreams and aspirations of children.”
Speaking at the occasion, Dr. Ponle Okunola who is a senior lecturer at the Yusuf Maitama University of Education, Kano warned parents to avoid coercing their children to do courses that is against their wish.
According to Dr.Okunola, “Doing so will demoralize the child and such child may end up not performing well academically.”
Some Parents and students at the graduation ceremony described Baptist Academy Kano as one of the best place children can be enrolled in for holistic learning that covers academic, character and spiritual formation.
