Kano State Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya,
has said that an information officer “who display incompetence risk being sidelined and excluded from key activities,”
This was just as he however stated that an ” Officers who demonstrate commitment and competence in their duties will naturally earn the respect and trust of their superiors, to the extent that they will consistently be engaged in critical assignments”
 The Commissioner then called on Information Officers serving in the Local Government Areas across the state to ensure active participation in all activities within their respective domains by upholding professionalism and dedication in the discharge of their responsibilities.
Comrade Waiya  made this call while speaking at the closing ceremony of the two-day capacity-building workshop organized for Local Government Information Officers.
According to him” The workshop focused on developing strategies for enlightening the public about healthy eating and the prevention of diet-related non-communicable diseases.
“Officers who demonstrate commitment and competence in their duties will naturally earn the respect and trust of their superiors, to the extent that they will consistently be engaged in critical assignments.
But those who display incompetence risk being sidelined and excluded from key activities,” Comrade Waiya stated.
He assured the participants of the government’s continued commitment to enhancing their capacity through regular training, noting that their role in disseminating accurate information and educating the public on issues that directly impact their well-being is vital to societal development.
While commending Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for his unwavering support to the Ministry particularly in empowering its personnel and sustaining public enlightenment initiatives, the Commissioner also acknowledged the contributions of the ministry’s staff, experts, and resource persons who presented papers during the workshop.
“The knowledge shared during this workshop will go a long way in equipping our officers with effective communication strategies for promoting healthy living and proper nutrition,” he added.
However, according to a statement signed by Director Special Duties
Kano State Ministry of Information and Internal Affairs Alhaji Sani Abba Yola,said the Commissioner presented certificates of participation to all attendees of the workshop.
Speaking on behalf of the Local Government Information Officers, Jamilu Mustapha expressed appreciation to the Commissioner for his consistent support for their welfare and professional development, especially through the organization of impactful capacity-building programmes.
