Waiya tasks councillors to mobilise grassroots support for Tinubu, Abba

Kola Oyelere, Kano

Kano State Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, has urged serving councillors across the state to intensify grassroots mobilisation for the electoral victory of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and other candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The Commissioner therefore urged the councillors to remain committed and confident in expressing their support for the political aspirations of President Tinubu, Governor Yusuf and other APC candidates.

Waiya made the call, when he received the Kano State Councillors Forum Tinubu Abba Grassroots Movement, led by its Chairman, Councillor Kabiru Maraska Dala, during a courtesy visit to his office.

The Commissioner described the councillors’ closeness to the grassroots as a major advantage that could be harnessed to mobilise support for the party and its candidates.

He stressed that serving councillors had a crucial role to play in developing effective mobilisation strategies and strengthening the APC’s support base because of their direct contact with people at the grassroots.

He urged them to promote Governor Yusuf’s “Kano First” agenda, saying the initiative was aimed at advancing the interests of the state and attracting additional development support from the Federal Government.

According to him, the agenda complements the state government’s infrastructure projects, employment opportunities and other programmes designed to improve the living conditions of residents.

Waiya said politics was a collective endeavour, noting that individuals could contribute through financial support, skills, grassroots mobilisation, publicity of government programmes and achievements, as well as active participation in the democratic process.

He also pledged the cooperation of the Ministry of Information and Internal Affairs with the councillors’ forum, particularly in initiatives aimed at effectively communicating government policies, programmes and achievements to the people.

Earlier, the Chairman of the movement and councillor representing Kantudu Ward in Dala Local Government Area, Kabiru Maraska Dala, said the delegation visited the Commissioner to formally demonstrate its support for President Tinubu and Governor Yusuf and to work towards their re-election.

Dala said the forum was satisfied with the development projects being implemented by the Yusuf administration across the state’s 484 wards.

He added that members of the forum would continue to explain and publicise the projects to the people to promote continuity and further development.

The chairman appealed to the Commissioner to provide the forum with the necessary support and guidance, particularly in information dissemination and grassroots mobilisation, to enable it contribute effectively to the electoral success of President Tinubu, Governor Yusuf and other APC candidates.
