The Founder of the MAAUN Group of Universities, Prof. Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo, has donated a fully equipped two-storey complex to Alliance Française Kano, marking one of the most significant individual contributions to language and cultural education in Northern Nigeria.

In addition to the building, Prof. Gwarzo announced a further N10 million donation to support the centre’s operational sustainability.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony on Thursday, Prof. Gwarzo said the gesture was aimed at strengthening bilingual education in Kano while providing world-class French language training and promoting deeper cultural exchange between Nigeria and the Francophone world.

Located at Ahmadiyya Junction along Airport Road, the ultra-modern facility features state-of-the-art classrooms, digital language laboratories, multimedia studios, conference halls, smart learning boards, high-speed internet, audio-visual teaching aids, a digital resource library, and specially designed learning-engineered furniture.

The French Ambassador to Nigeria, Marc Fonbaustier, unveiled the new edifice alongside Prof. Gwarzo. The Ambassador commended him for his unwavering dedication to education and cultural development, describing the gesture as a remarkable humanitarian contribution that continues to impact countless lives. He prayed for God to grant the philanthropist long life and good health.

The Director of Alliance Française Kano, Ali Dabo, expressed deep appreciation, noting that no individual had ever transformed the centre to such an exceptional level.

“For over a decade, we operated as tenants,” Dabo said. “But today, thanks to Prof. Gwarzo, Alliance Française Kano finally has a permanent, dignified home equipped to global standards.”

With the newly inaugurated structure, the centre is now regarded as one of the most sophisticated French language and cultural training institutions in Northern Nigeria.
