The Centre for Information Technology and Development (CITAD) has said that many government agencies and institutions lack accurate data for their areas of focus.

This was just as the organization then added  that the absence of reliable data leads to ineffective policies and programs.

CITAD Executive Director Engr. Yunusa Z .Ya’u made this known on Thursday, while speaking with press at the end of the three-day training, for  25 professionals and representatives from academia and civil society organizations on data analysis using Python, organised by the CITAD

According to him ,the training is aimed at enhancing research in academia, civil society organizations, and government agencies

According to the Centre, this group of participants is the second phase of beneficiaries, adding that the program is part of the Centre’s goal to support academia and other sectors with advanced knowledge in data analysis.

The training is intended to strengthen their skills in research and data management for use in policy formulation, education, and program development,he said

Alhaji Ya’u, represented by Mr. Hamza Ibrahim, Senior Programme Officer in the Research and Communications Unit, said participants were drawn from academia, civil society organizations (CSOs), and government agencies.

” CITAD organized the training after observing that data is increasingly important, not only for academic work but also for public policy” he said

“When we advertised for entries into the training, we received over 10,000 applications within a short period of time, and we intended to train 25 people,” he said.

“We had to screen and select the intended participants to be trained in phases.

The first batch was a success, and today we are concluding the second batch with 25 trainees,” Y.Z. noted.
