: Iliyasu Kwankwaso hails Tinubu’s address, backs economic reforms
Kola Oyelere, Kano
The Executive Director of Finance, Hadejia Jama’are River Basin Development Authority (HJRBDA), Dr. Musa Iliyasu Kwankwaso, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for emphasisingIndependence economic reforms, job creation, industrial development, agriculture and social support programmes in his nationwide broadcast to mark Nigeria’s 66th Independence Anniversary.
Kwankwaso, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), said the President’s focus on reducing the cost of living, improving agricultural production, expanding infrastructure and creating employment opportunities for young Nigerians was important to the country’s long-term development.
In a statement, he said Tinubu’s address demonstrated his administration’s commitment to addressing longstanding economic challenges and laying the foundation for sustainable prosperity.
He acknowledged that the reforms introduced by the Tinubu administration required difficult decisions, adding that the Independence Day address provided an opportunity for Nigerians to assess the country’s economic direction and measures being implemented to strengthen the economy.
The HJRBDA director also commended the administration’s emphasis on supporting vulnerable Nigerians through social intervention programmes, education financing and access to credit.
According to him, initiatives designed to improve access to education, healthcare and productive assets could create greater opportunities for low-income households and young people.
Kwankwaso further welcomed the President’s call for national unity and collective commitment to building a country where economic opportunities and prosperity are widely shared.
He noted that Nigeria’s large population, abundant natural resources and youthful workforce offered significant potential for economic growth if supported by appropriate policies, infrastructure and investment.
“Nigeria’s large population, natural resources and youthful workforce provided the country with significant potential for economic growth if supported by appropriate policies, infrastructure and investment, just like that of the present administration of President Tinubu,” he said.
He urged Nigerians to support efforts to strengthen the economy and create an enabling environment for businesses to thrive, young people to secure productive employment and farmers to increase food production.
The APC chieftain, however, stressed the need for sustained attention to the challenges confronting ordinary Nigerians, particularly the rising costs of food, transportation, education and healthcare.
He said translating economic reforms into broader prosperity would require consistent implementation of government policies and cooperation among the federal, state and local governments.
Kwankwaso congratulated Nigerians on the country’s 66th Independence Anniversary and expressed optimism that the nation could achieve greater economic prosperity through unity, hard work and responsible leadership.
He also urged Nigerians to renew their support for President Tinubu’s second-term ambition, calling for massive votes to sustain the administration’s economic reform agenda.
He expressed confidence that continued implementation of the government’s policies would help create a better future for Nigerians.
