KSPHCMB Halts Handover of Renovated Tofa PHC Over Construction Defects

The Kano State Primary Health Care Management Board (KSPHCMB) has ordered the immediate rectification of defects identified at the renovated Tofa Primary Health Centre (PHC), insisting that the facility will not be handed over until all quality concerns are fully addressed.

The directive was issued by the Director General of the Board, Professor Salisu Ahmad Ibrahim, during the final inspection of the health facility in Tofa Local Government Area on Sunday. The inspection formed part of the Board’s quality assurance process under the IMPACT Project.

The statement was contained in a press release signed by the Public Relations Officer of the Kano State Primary Health Care Management Board, Sa’adatu Suleiman, and made available to journalists on Sunday.

During the visit, Professor Ibrahim observed that recent heavy rainfall had washed away sections of the sand filling beneath the interlock pavement surrounding the facility, leaving parts of the pavement unstable.

He subsequently directed the contractor handling the project to return to the site immediately to reinstate the affected sand filling, relay the damaged interlocks, and complete all necessary corrective works.

According to the Director General, the project will not be accepted or officially handed over until the identified defects have been rectified in line with the Board’s prescribed standards and specifications.

Professor Ibrahim reaffirmed the Board’s commitment to maintaining strict quality control on all health infrastructure projects across the state. He said KSPHCMB remains focused on ensuring that every renovated health facility delivered under the IMPACT Project is safe, durable, and capable of providing quality primary healthcare services to residents.
