KSCHMA visits 40 health facilities as Q2 supervision exercise strengthens healthcare delivery in Kano

The Kano State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency (KSCHMA) has intensified efforts to improve healthcare service delivery, with about 40 accredited health facilities inspected as its Second Quarter (Q2) 2026 Joint Supportive Supervision Exercise entered its third day across 33 selected local government areas of the state.
The agency said the statewide exercise is part of efforts to advance Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s Kano First Agenda, which prioritises accessible, affordable and quality healthcare for residents.
The supervision exercise is being conducted in collaboration with the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), Kano State Primary Healthcare Management Board (SPHCMB), Hospitals Management Board (HMB), Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI), Private Health Institutions Management Agency (PHIMA), Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission (PCACC), and other strategic partners.
According to KSCHMA, multidisciplinary supervision teams carried out comprehensive assessments of healthcare facilities, focusing on compliance with operational standards, quality of clinical services, enrollee management, claims administration, availability of essential medicines, data quality and facility record management.
The teams also provided on-the-spot mentorship and technical support to healthcare workers to strengthen service delivery and improve institutional performance.
Preliminary findings from the exercise showed encouraging improvements in compliance with operational standards across many facilities.
However, the agency identified areas requiring further attention, including documentation and reporting, claims processing, availability of essential medicines in some facilities, infrastructure and equipment deficiencies, staffing challenges, and adherence to established clinical and administrative standards.
KSCHMA said the findings would guide targeted interventions aimed at enhancing the quality and efficiency of healthcare services across Kano State.
The agency emphasised that the Joint Supportive Supervision Exercise is a collaborative quality improvement initiative designed to build the capacity of healthcare providers rather than a fault-finding mission.
It reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Governor Yusuf’s vision of building a resilient, accountable and people-centred healthcare system capable of delivering quality services to all beneficiaries under the Kano State Contributory Healthcare Scheme.
