KEDCO launches digitised electricity payment system

Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO) has launched a digitised electricity payment system aimed at blocking revenue leakages and improving customer payment experience.
The new solution features a self-service, ATM-enabled payment kiosk developed in partnership with Fucil Datatech Limited and was officially commissioned on Friday in Kano.
Speaking at the launch, KEDCO Managing Director, Abubakar Shuaibu Jimaita, said the initiative is part of the company’s broader digitisation programme designed to align its operations with global standards and enhance service delivery.
He described the project as a major milestone in strengthening strategic partnerships and advancing the company’s customer-first vision.
According to him, expanding digital payment channels demonstrates the company’s commitment to continuous improvement and innovation in electricity service management.
“Today we are here to launch something that is indeed part of our vision, whereby we are bringing digitisation into our business. Change is constant, and it’s something that we have to keep building on to create a better company,” Jimaita said.
He noted that KEDCO’s partnerships and operational strategies are designed with customer satisfaction as the top priority, stressing that easier access to payment and related services will translate into smoother business operations.
Jimaita added that the company remains open to further collaborations that will strengthen its systems, deepen stakeholder engagement, and support its goal of becoming a world-class electricity distribution company.
Also speaking, the Managing Director of Fucil Datatech Limited, Chioma Eugenia Iwuagwu, said the firm specialises in secure and scalable digital solutions that improve institutional efficiency and customer experience.
She explained that the newly introduced kiosk platform is built to simplify transactions and promote more reliable and transparent electricity bill payments for consumers.
