The Kebbi State Police Command has arrested Suleman Mamuda, 30, for allegedly killing his wife, Umaima Maidawa, 25, in Bayawa Village, Augie Local Government Area of the state.

The Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Bashir Usman, disclosed the incident to newsmen in Birnin Kebbi, the state capital.

According to the statement, the alleged killing occurred on January 13, 2026, when the suspect reportedly struck his wife with the wooden handle of a hoe, resulting in her death.

Following the incident, Mamuda fled the area but was later traced and arrested through police investigation and information from community members.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Umar Mohammed Hadejia, has directed that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for discreet investigation and prosecution.

The Kebbi State Police Command has urged members of the public to report incidents promptly and continue supporting law enforcement agencies with information aimed at maintaining peace and security across the state.
