APC Jigawa Integrity Group debunks claims of Badaru’s alleged secret talks with ADC

Kola Oyelere Kano

The All Progressives Congress (APC) Jigawa Integrity Group has dismissed as false and misleading reports circulating on conventional and social media alleging that the immediate past Minister of Defence and two-term Governor of Jigawa State, Muhammad Badaru Abubakar, is engaged in secret talks with the opposition African Democratic Congress (ADC).

This was contained in statement signed by the APC Jigawa Integrity Group and Comrade Auwal Shuaibu Gumel,a copy made available to press in Kano

The group, described the reports as the handiwork of detractors bent on creating friction between Badaru and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

According to Gumel, the relationship between President Tinubu and Badaru remains strong and unbreakable.

“The misinformation going round is obviously the work of enemies of progress and enemies of Jigawa State. They are desperate to sever the bond between His Excellency Muhammad Badaru and Mr President, but that relationship is unshakable,” he said.

Using an analogy to dismiss the claims, Gumel added, “How can someone who toiled to build, furnish and design a beautiful house abandon it to move into a dilapidated one? Never.

Those spreading this imaginary and senseless narrative are those who fear the political weight of His Excellency Muhammad Badaru.”

He explained that since Badaru’s resignation after what he described as meritorious service to the nation, the former defence minister has been taking a well-deserved rest while attending to his health.

Despite this, Gumel stressed that Badaru remains firmly in control of his political base.

“As the leader of the APC in Jigawa State, his support base is intact. He is in constant touch with his supporters in Jigawa, across the North-West and throughout the country,” he said.

Gumel further reaffirmed Badaru’s commitment to the All Progressives Congress (APC) and President Tinubu’s political future, noting that the former governor remains a key pillar in mobilising support for the party.

“His Excellency Muhammad Badaru Abubakar remains a pillar of strength for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid. Even during his rest, he is working behind the scenes to mobilise grassroots support and to strategise for APC’s victory in Jigawa and beyond,” Gumel stated
.
He highlighted Badaru’s legacy as governor, citing infrastructure development, educational reforms and economic growth as achievements that continue to resonate across the state, adding that his political structure remains solidly aligned with Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

Dismissing the alleged defection to ADC, Gumel described it as “a figment of imagination by desperate mischief-makers,” insisting that Badaru’s loyalty to the APC and President Tinubu is “ironclad.”

“Our party structure in Jigawa stands united under his leadership. No amount of fake news can erode his commitment to the APC,” he said.

Gumel urged APC supporters in Jigawa and beyond to remain steadfast and vigilant against what he termed divisive propaganda.

He called for continued support for President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, stressing that unity remains critical to Jigawa’s development and Nigeria’s overall progress.
