A ghastly motor accident involving a Kano Line passenger bus and a tanker at Darki town in Wudil Local Government Area of Kano State, has claimed no fewer than 12 lives

Confirming the incident, the Director of Kano Line, Alhaji Sa’idu Abdullahi Shu’aibu, described the accident as devastating and expressed profound sorrow over the loss of lives.

It was gathered that the tragic incident occurred along the busy Kano–Gombe Road, when a tanker driver, reportedly working on a road construction project, allegedly made a sudden turn in the middle of the highway.

An eyewitnesses. said that the Kano-bound bus was unable to avoid a collision and rammed into the tanker, resulting in multiple fatalities on the spot.

However, Alhaji Shu’aibu disclosed that ” Out of the 16 passengers on board, 12 reportedly died instantly, including two of our drivers, Alhaji Sabo and Alhaji Dan Azumi,”

He also added that “Five others — four women and one man — sustained severe injuries and were rushed to a nearby hospital for urgent medical attention.”

He extended condolences to the bereaved families and to Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, describing the tragedy as a painful loss not only to the transport company but also to the entire state.

He therefore stated ” We are heartbroken by this unfortunate accident. Our prayers are with the victims’ families. May Almighty Allah grant the deceased eternal rest and quick recovery to the injured,”

Shu’aibu however called for stricter road safety measures and improved regulation of vehicles involved in construction projects along major highways, noting that such incidents could be avoided with better traffic control and driver awareness.

While authorities have reportedly launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash to determine liability and prevent future occurrences.
