69th birthday: Kwankwaso lays foundation for medical varsity,name it after his mother

Former presidential candidate og the New Nigeria People Party ( NNPP) in 2023 election , Senator Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso,in his effort to celebrate his 69th birthday by laid the foundation for the establishment of a medical university , after his mother Nafisatu
This is just as he resolved to upgrade the Nafisatu College of Nursing Sciences, Kwankwaso, in Madobi local government area if the state
According to him ” education is the backbone of any technical improvement hence the need for him to always strive to have interest in contributing to advancement in education sector
He made this known,at a ceremony held at the college, which was part of the activities to mark the senator’s 69th birthday celebration.
Speaking at the occasion Senator Kwankwaso described the initiative as a milestone in his lifelong commitment to expanding access to quality healthcare education, particularly for young women.
He said that ” Our school started in 2019, and today, over 400 students have graduated, while another 400 are currently enrolled.
Dr.Kwankwaso ,who was a former governor of the state noted that
“We are proud that this institution remains the first privately owned college of nursing and midwifery in the country, where all students are female. The results are excellent, giving us the confidence to take the next step — establishing a medical university,”
He then expressed appreciation to the Kano State Government for supporting the training of community midwives through the college, noting that the planned upgrade would further boost the health workforce and reduce the shortage of qualified medical personnel.
He therefore said ” I urged all
stakeholders to support us in this noble effort. Our success will not only benefit this community or Kano State but will have a national and international impact,”
Earlier, Professor Saleh Ngaski Garba, Chairman of the College’s Governing Council, commended Senator Kwankwaso for his vision and humanitarian spirit, noting that the college has produced 416 nurses and midwives since its inception.
He said, “The establishment of this medical university will provide more opportunities for youths, especially from less privileged backgrounds, to acquire advanced training in nursing and other health disciplines.”
However,the state deputy governor Comrade Abdulsalam Gwarzo commended Senator Kwankwaso adding that the noble role he has been playing as far as education can never be forgotten
Comrade Gwarzo noted that it is on record that it was during the tenure of former governor,that two Universities was established
The Aliko Dangote University of technology was established during the first tenure of Kwankwassiya ‘ s administration while another ,the North West University equally came to limelight during his second term
He added that the establishment of these Universities have pave way for numerous youths to gained access to tertiaries University,a laudable goal that can not be forgotten in the annal bistro of the state
