The College of Education Academic Staff Union( COESU) at the recently upgraded Kano University of Education, has called on the Federal Ministry of Education, and the school management,

to as a matter of urgency called some members of the institution to order over establishing an Academic Staff Union of University ( ASUU), saying it is illegal , because, the College is still in transitional stage and must meet notable requirements before forming an ASUU body
However, the  Chairman of the institution, Ado Muhammad Abdullahi, while speaking with press therefore disowned some academic staff members who claim to be members of the Academic Staff Union  (ASU).
He said, “as it is now we have not been fully adopted by ASUU because we have not met the desired requirements, but the ASUU members have the guts to write a petition to the Minister against the Chairman Governing Council telling lies that cannot be verified”.

The Chairman said those parading themselves as ASUU have been serially forewarned to stop what they are doing, because the University have not obtained all the legal requirements to Commences academic activities, or rather we are still on transition to a University”, he added

He said the allegations that the Chairman Governing Council and the Acting Vice Chancellor have connived to thwart the Institution’s transition to University is baseless and an unfounded insinuation.

According to him,” The so-called ASUU members have been serially forewarned to stop their activities, but they have refused to comply.

He explained that the reason why they can not take them to Court was because the Institution have all the required punishable measures to slam on them, “we cannot take them to Court because there is a management who have those powers and they are soon punishing them”.

He also berated them over an
allegations made by these individuals against the Chairman of the Governing Council and the Acting Vice Chancellor ,described them  baseless and unfounded.

He disclosed that ” The  ASU members have written a petition to the Minister of Education, seeking the removal of the Chairman of the Governing Council and the Acting Vice Chancellor.”

However, Abdullahi said that the allegations made in the petition are lies and cannot be verified.

The COESU Chairman described the ASU members as troublemakers who have been causing problems for the institution for many years.

He said that the institution has taken it upon itself to ensure that they face the wrath of the law, but instead of taking them to court, the management will punish them according to the institution’s rules and regulations.
