BUK to graduates  8,769 ,with 176 gets  first class degree at 39th convocation

The Vice Chancellor, Bayero University Kano ( BUK) Professor Sagir Abbas has said that s total number of 8,769 ,with 176 to bagged first class degrees.at the 39 th convocation ceremony commencing from Wednesday to Saturday, February,2025
Additionally, the 39th Convocation will witness the awarding of Emeritus Professor titles to three distinguished retired Professors: – Professor Garba Dahuwa Azare – Professor Julius Afolabi Falola – Professor Musa Mohammed Borodo
He however added that the  convocation ceremony would be staggered from Wednesday to Saturday,with different faculties taken specific day for to their graduation ceremony
Making this known on Monday,Professor Abbas stated that two important personalities,Colonel ( rted)Sani Bello ,a former Kano state governor and a business mogul, Alhaji Auwalu Abdullahi Rano ,would confered with a honorary degree on the final day of the ceremony
According to him,” Ladies and Gentlemen of the Press, It is with great pleasure that Bayero University Kano (BUK) announces the details of its 39th Convocation Ceremony.”
He added that ” This event marks a significant milestone in the academic journey of our students, and we are excited to celebrate their achievements with you.”
Professor Abbas while given the breakdown of the programme, said on the day 1, Wednesday 12 February, 2025, we will have a total of 4,402 graduands receiving their degrees, diplomas, and certificates. from 11 faculties.
While on the day 2,Thursday, 13 February, 2025 ,” We shall see another 4,367 graduands from 7 faculties graduating. The highlights include: -176 First Class degrees – 275 PhDs -2,590 Masters Degrees -535 Postgraduate Diplomas
According to him,on the day 3,
 Friday, 14 February, 2025 The Convocation Lecture will be delivered by Khalil Sulaiman Halilu, Executive Vice Chairman/CEO of NACENI.
The title of the lecture is: Innovation and Entrepreneurship: A Pathway to National Development. The Chairman of the Convocation Lecture is the Hon. Minister of Innovation, Science, and Technology, Chief Uche Jeffrey Nnaji.
He then empharsised that on day 4,
On the final day, we will confer Honorary Degrees on two distinguished Nigerians: – Col. Sani Bello (Rtd) – Alhaji Auwalu Abdullahi Rano popularly known as A A Rano
Prof.Abbas however disclosed that the BUK does not given a honorary degree on the bases of selling it,but strictly base on the contribution of such personalities of people to humanity and to educational sector
He therefore added that on Col Belo,he was a former Kano state governor,who contributed immensely to the socio economic development of the state during his tenure
While it was on record that Alhaji A A Rano , assisted large numbers of students to paid registration fees and has continuing to pay N60,000 as an assistance to many students
Also no fewer than 7,000 were receiving salary from Alhaji A A Rano, all these are qualities the BUK looking into as a criteria for awarding him
