The Centre for Information Technology and Development (CITAD) has called on  stakeholders across eight Local Government areas of Kano State, to be steadfast on the advocacy for the completion of abandoned projects in their localities.

However, these local government areas  are,Bichi, Fagge, Dala, Gwale, Tarauni, Nassarawa, Municipal and Sumaila local government areas are the focus areas for the project

Making this known on Monday,the
CITAD  Senior program officer, Isah Garba during an inception meeting with the stakeholders on improving citizens participation in governance processes and demanding accountability from duty-bearers in Kano State.

He disclosed that there was a constituency projects which was,a primary health centre which was  abandoned for over ten years and thus causing a great risk to people residing in the area as dagerous reptiles and animal have taken over them

According to him,” A lot of resources are being wasted, government has started them and abandoned them without any reason while the societies needs them for beneficial means.

Alhaji Garba stated that “We want the citizens to actively participate to reduce the number of abandoned projects through advocacy to the government, compile the list of these projects and also see how we can get them completed.

He said that the stakeholders should demand accountability and transparency from those elected members who were representing them on the need to ensure that the abandoned projects are completed

Alhaji Garba also reminded the stakeholders, that their failure to hold their elected members they voted for, would not resulted to wasteful of resources and deprived them of dividend of democracy
These abandoned projects are tax payers money of people, adding that allowing them to be roting away ,would not amounted to lack of responsibilities, but against the will of Allah
He added that “We are also looking forward to be presenting citizens charter of demands so that project would not be just perceived by just one person and at the end of the day turn out to be a waste or not being completed.

He then disclosed that “We just want public resources to be fully utilised. The citizens need to know that they have all the rights and responsibilities to rise onto governance and they need to actively participate in all the processes beyond casting votes.”

He therefore hinted that at
the end of the meeting, the stakeholders pledged to follow up on abandoned projects for completion in their respective Local Government Areas.
