FG approves fresh ₦19bn for Kano–Gwarzo–Dayi road project — Barau

Kola Oyelere, Kano

The Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau Jibrin, has announced that the Federal Government has approved a fresh ₦19 billion for the resumption of construction work on the Kano–Gwarzo–Dayi Road Project.

Barau disclosed this on Friday through his verified Facebook page, stating that the approval is in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which focuses on delivering critical infrastructure with direct impact on communities nationwide.

According to him, the approval followed a meeting with the Deputy Managing Director of CGC Nigeria Limited, Mr. Lv Haiming, in Abuja, where outstanding issues surrounding the previously stalled project were resolved.

“I am pleased to announce that all arrangements have now been finalised, and the sum of ₦19 billion has been approved and awarded for the execution of the Kano–Gwarzo–Dayi Road Project,” Barau said.

He noted that construction activities on the road, which had slowed down earlier, are expected to resume soon, adding that the contractor has been fully mobilised back to site.

The senator described the Kano–Gwarzo–Dayi Road as a critical infrastructure corridor linking several communities within Kano State and neighbouring areas.

He said its completion would significantly improve transportation, accessibility, and economic activities across the region.

“The road is a vital link that will enhance connectivity, boost economic activities, and improve the wellbeing of our people,” he added.

Barau also reaffirmed his commitment to working with the Tinubu administration to ensure that key development projects affecting citizens’ lives are delivered on schedule, assuring residents along the corridor of the Federal Government’s continued commitment to their development.
