Gwarzo urges Kano youth, women to register online for PVC before July 24 deadline

The New Democratic Congress (NDC) governorship candidate in Kano State, Comrade Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, has called on eligible residents, particularly youths and women, to take advantage of the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) online voter registration platform ahead of the July 24, 2026 deadline.

Gwarzo made the appeal in a statement issued on Saturday by his spokesperson, Ibrahim Garba Shuaibu, urging those who have yet to register as voters to complete the process online from the comfort of their homes using their National Identification Number (NIN).

According to the statement, INEC’s self-service registration portal allows first-time voters to begin and complete their registration online before proceeding for biometric capture where required.
Gwarzo described the initiative as a major step towards expanding access to voter registration, saying it eliminates the challenge of long queues at registration centres.

“This new portal removes the barrier of long queues. Our young people, our mothers and sisters can now register at home using their phones or computers. There is no excuse not to participate,” he said.

The NDC governorship candidate stressed that voting remains one of the most effective ways for citizens to influence governance and shape the country’s democratic future.

He particularly encouraged youths and women to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), describing the card as a powerful instrument for positive change.

“The PVC is your power. It is the weapon we have to bring about positive change for our families, our communities, and Kano State. I am calling on our youth and women especially—register, collect your PVC, and vote in 2027,” Gwarzo stated.

He further advised eligible Nigerians who are yet to register to complete their online pre-registration, undergo biometric capture where necessary, and collect their PVCs once they become available.

Gwarzo also appealed to traditional rulers, religious organisations, youth groups and civil society organisations to mobilise eligible citizens for mass voter registration ahead of the 2027 general elections.

“The future of Kano State and Nigeria depends on informed and responsible citizens. Register today, vote peacefully in 2027, and let’s build the Kano we all desire,” he added.
