Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria (MAAUN) has maintained its position as the cheapest private university in the country, even as it emerged as the second-best private university in Nigeria.

The Founder of the university, Prof. Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo, disclosed this on Thursday during the First Convocation Dinner organised for the Class of 2025 graduating students at the university’s main campus.

Prof. Gwarzo reassured parents and guardians of MAAUN’s unwavering commitment to providing quality education and academic excellence at an affordable cost.

He urged parents to always channel complaints or concerns through the university management for prompt resolution, rather than resorting to social media.

Earlier in his remarks, the President of the university, Prof. (Dr.) Mohammad Israr, welcomed parents, students and invited guests, describing the convocation dinner as a historic milestone in the growth and development of the institution.

The Vice President Administration, Dr. Habib Awais Abubakar, congratulated the graduating students and expressed
appreciation to parents and guests for honouring the invitation.

In his goodwill message, the Director of the European Centre for Leadership and Entrepreneurship Education, Prof. Mahamouda Salouhou, commended Prof. Gwarzo for establishing the university, noting that the initiative would inspire more investments in education.

He also congratulated parents for choosing MAAUN, which he said has Memoranda of Understanding with leading universities in the United States.

Similarly, Prof. Hakeem Ibukunle of Morgan State University, Baltimore, Maryland, USA, congratulated the graduating students and their parents, while praising Prof. Gwarzo for his commitment to advancing education in Nigeria and beyond.

Speaking on behalf of parents, Alhaji Sa’idu Bello and Abdulrahaman Sulaiman Bawa Zaria expressed gratitude to the Founder, management and staff of the university for mentoring the students and congratulated the graduands on the successful completion of their studies.

The convocation dinner brought together students, management, parents and invited guests in a relaxed atmosphere, featuring musical performances by Hamisu Breaker and Ahmerdy Mai Kallabi, as well as spoken word presentations.

Guests were also treated to a variety of local and continental dishes, alongside assorted drinks and refreshments.
