The Kano State Independent Electoral Commission( KANSIEC) said that the local government elections in the state would be held on November 30th, 2024.

This move is coming following the Supreme Court judgment, which granted the local government autonomy and mandated states to have substantive local government chairmen.

It will be recalled that  last local government elections in the state were held on January 16, 2021 in 44 local government areas and 484 wards.

While speaking on Wednesday,the
chairman of the commission, Professor Sani Malunfashi, disclosed this during a press conference in Kano.

He however added thatlt all candidates for the elections would be subjected to drug tests before they were cleared for the election.

Malunfashit also threatened to expose any candidate whoever attempt to bribe him with any form of inducement to influence the results of the elections.

He assured that the election would be free, fair and credible.
