Kwankwaso lists Tinubu’s peace accord, projects as reasons for second term

The Director of Finance, Hadejia Jama’are River Basin Development Authority and a chieftain of All Progressive Congress ( APC), Dr Musa Illiyasu Kwankwaso, has urged Nigerians to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term, citing his commitment to democracy, peace and infrastructural development.

Kwankwaso ,a three time commissioner for rural and community development in Kano state ,said Tinubu’s decision to lead the signing of the peace accord ahead of the 2027 general elections, as well as his alleged non-interference in the recently concluded Osun State governorship election, demonstrated his commitment to democratic principles.

In a statement personally signed and issued to journalists on Wednesday, he said the President’s development initiatives across the country, particularly in the North, provided further justification for his re-election.

According to him, Tinubu has, in the last three years, demonstrated that he is a nationalist who is committed to the development of all parts of Nigeria.

Kwankwaso said the administration’s efforts in improving security had enabled the recovery of farming communities previously occupied by bandits, allowing displaced residents to return to their homes.

He cited comments by the National President of the All Farmers Association of Nigeria, Dr Farouk, who, according to him, recently highlighted the administration’s efforts in restoring access to agricultural land affected by insecurity.

He said more than 1,400 kilometres of major road projects, alongside the Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano (AKK) gas pipeline and metropolitan rail projects, were being undertaken in the region, with a combined value exceeding N7.21 trillion.

Kwankwaso listed the reconstruction of the Abuja-Kaduna-Zaria-Kano highway, rehabilitation of the Kano-Maiduguri road, dualisation of the Kano-Katsina road and reconstruction of the Kano-Hadejia road among the Federal Government’s major investments in the North.

He also identified the proposed 1,068-kilometre Sokoto-Badagry Superhighway, with an integrated rail line, as a strategic project capable of strengthening economic connections between Northern and Southern Nigeria.

On transportation, he cited the $1.2 billion Kano-Kaduna railway project, the Kano-Maradi rail line and the proposed Kaduna Light Rail as projects that could improve the movement of passengers and goods while reducing pressure on major highways.

In the energy sector, Kwankwaso mentioned the AKK gas pipeline, the 1,350-megawatt Gwagwalada Independent Power Plant and solar energy projects in Kaduna, saying the initiatives could expand electricity supply and stimulate industrial development.

He further cited the upgrade of Misau General Hospital to a Federal Medical Centre, improvements at the Reference Hospital in Kaduna and the rehabilitation of the Kumpada Irrigation Project as evidence of federal investment in healthcare and agriculture.

“These projects show that the region is receiving significant attention,” Kwankwaso said.
He urged Nigerians, particularly citizens of the North, to distinguish between legitimate criticism of government policies and what he described as politically motivated narratives.

He called on the people to support Tinubu for a second term, arguing that continuity would enable the administration to complete and consolidate the projects and programmes it had initiated across the country.
