Kola Oyelere Kano
THE Kano State Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, has underscored the importance of timely and accurate information dissemination in promoting good governance and sustaining public trust.

Waiya made this statement after receiving the prestigious Crisis Communicator Award at the 6th National Spokespersons Awards held in Abuja.

The Commissioner reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening communication between the Kano State Government and citizens, particularly through the effective coordination and dissemination of public information.

While receiving the award, Waiya expressed appreciation to the organisers of the National Spokespersons Awards for recognising his contributions to public communication and information management.

He dedicated the honour to the Kano State Government under the leadership of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, as well as to officials of the Ministry of Information and Internal Affairs and the media community in the state.

The award was presented at an event attended by government spokespersons, communication experts, media professionals, and other stakeholders from across the country.

Waiya was recognised for his role in crisis communication and effective information management, particularly in articulating government policies and addressing issues affecting the people of Kano State.

The recognition underscores the critical role of effective communication in fostering understanding between government and citizens, especially during periods of crisis, uncertainty, and heightened public concern.

It also places Kano State among jurisdictions receiving national recognition for excellence in government communication, while highlighting Waiya’s contributions to crisis communication and public information management.

The Commissioner stated that the recognition would further strengthen his resolve to ensure that citizens continue to have access to credible, timely, and accurate information on government policies and activities.
