A coalition of Northern elders has reaffirmed its support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and pledged to back his re-election bid in the 2027 general elections, according to the Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, Yusuf Abdullahi Ata.
Ata disclosed this following a high-level meeting with a prominent Northern elder in Kano, where he said assurances of “total support” were conveyed on behalf of a broad coalition of regional stakeholders.
According to the minister, the elder indicated that the North had reached a consensus to support Tinubu for a second term, citing confidence in the administration’s policies and direction.
This was contained in a statement signed by Hon. Seyi Olorunsola, media aide to the minister,a copy made available to press in Kano
Reacting to the development, Ata expressed appreciation for what he described as sustained regional trust in the government’s “Renewed Hope” agenda.
He said the endorsement reflects recognition of the administration’s efforts in areas such as urban renewal, affordable housing, and economic reforms, particularly in Northern Nigeria.
“The assurance of total support from our elders is a clear signal that the North recognizes the strides of this administration,” Ata stated, adding that such backing would strengthen ongoing efforts to expand access to housing and promote sustainable development nationwide.
The meeting also highlights efforts within the All Progressives Congress to consolidate political support ahead of the 2027 elections.
