Operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) have rescued the Administrative Secretary of Kibiya Local Government Council Area, Alhaji Hamza Durya, following his abduction in Kano State.

However, the council secretary was reportedly kidnapped days earlier at his residence in Kibiya by armed assailants who later demanded a ransom of N100 million.

According to a statement issued on Wednesday by the Kano State Ministry of Information and Internal Affairs, the victim was kidnapped at his residence in Durya village, Kibiya Local Government Area.

The statement was signed by the Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya,a copy made available to press in Kano

The statement said security agencies were immediately mobilised after the incident to secure his release and apprehend those responsible.

“In a swift and coordinated operation, operatives of the DSS, Kano State Command, successfully rescued the victim and arrested two suspected kidnappers who sustained bullet wounds during the operation,” the statement said.

The state government described the development as a significant breakthrough and commended security agencies for their professionalism and prompt response.

It added that the success reflects the effectiveness of ongoing security strategies across the state’s 44 local government areas.

The government also acknowledged the support of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf in providing resources to enhance the operational capacity of security agencies.

Reaffirming its commitment to maintaining peace and security, the government urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to security agencies.
