The Director-General of the Kano State Social Protection Agency (KASPA), Dr. Fateema Abubakar Abdullahi (Amneef), has commended the Aminu Magashi Foundation for donating food items to vulnerable residents at the D/Kudu Vocational Rehabilitation Training Centre in Kano.
Dr. Fateema gave the commendation on Wednesday while witnessing the official handover of the items to the management of the rehabilitation centre.
She described the gesture as timely and impactful, especially during the holy month of Ramadan when support for vulnerable persons is most needed.
According to her, the intervention would go a long way in cushioning the hardship faced by beneficiaries at the centre, particularly as they observe the fasting period.
The KASPA boss also applauded the efforts of Abba Kabir Yusuf for facilitating the evacuation of over 200 mentally ill persons from the streets of Kano and ensuring they receive proper medical treatment and rehabilitation at the D/Kudu facility.
She called on other well-meaning individuals and non-governmental organisations to complement the state government’s social protection initiatives by extending similar assistance to vulnerable groups across the state.
In his remarks, Dr. Aminu Magashi Garba pledged to replicate the foundation’s gesture in 12 additional rehabilitation centres across Kano State.
He noted that the donated items — which included bags of maize, rice and cooking oil — were aimed at supporting the feeding needs of residents during Ramadan.
Also speaking at the event, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Hajiya Amina Yar’gaya, and the Executive Secretary of the Kano State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Alhaji Isyaku Kubarachi, commended the Aminu Magashi Foundation for its generosity and commitment to humanitarian service.
The event underscored renewed calls for increased collaboration between government agencies and private organisations to strengthen social protection efforts in Kano State.
