The Kano State Fire Service has rescued a 23-year-old woman who fell into a well in Gurungawa area of Kumbotso Local Government Area of the state.

According to a press release issued on Tuesday by the agency’s Public Relations Officer, Saminu Yusif Abdullahi, the incident occurred in the early hours of February 10, 2026.

The statement said the Emergency Response Unit received a distress call at about 12:25 a.m. from a resident, Lawan Aminu, reporting that a woman had fallen into a well at the location.

“Upon receipt of the call, a rescue team from the agency’s headquarters was immediately mobilized to the scene,” the statement said.

Firefighters arrived promptly and found the victim, identified as Ladidi Muhammad Sani, inside the well. She was successfully rescued alive and later handed over to her father, Abdullahi Sani.

The Fire Service said the cause of the incident is still under investigation.

The agency urged residents to observe safety precautions around open wells and other hazardous areas to prevent similar incidents.
