Former Kano State Governor and immediate past National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, on Tuesday led a high-level delegation to inspect an ongoing Grand Mosque and Islamic Centre project in Abuja, underscoring his continued national engagement through faith-based initiatives.
The inspection took place in the Federal Capital Territory and drew prominent personalities, including the Head of the Qadiriyya Order in Africa, Sheikh Kariballah Sheikh Muhammad Nasiru Kabara, and the Director-General of the National Productivity Centre (NPC), Hon. Dr. Baffa Babba Dan’agundi.
During the visit, the delegation toured the mosque and Islamic centre complex, receiving detailed briefings from project handlers on the level of work completed and the next phases of construction.
The facility, described by insiders as one of the largest faith-driven development projects associated with Ganduje, is designed to serve as a centre for worship, Islamic education, and moral development
. Sources at the site said the project aligns with a broader vision to strengthen religious institutions and promote values-based education across ethnic and regional lines.
Observers say the initiative highlights Ganduje’s sustained influence beyond partisan politics, positioning faith-based development as a tool for social impact and national unity.
Speaking during the inspection, Sheikh Kariballah Kabara commended the scale and purpose of the project, praising Ganduje for what he called continued service to Islam and humanity.
He also offered prayers for the former governor’s success and divine reward.
The presence of senior government officials and respected religious figures at the event was seen as a reflection of Ganduje’s enduring networks across political and religious circles.
When completed, the Grand Mosque and Islamic Centre is expected to stand as a major landmark in Abuja and contribute to Ganduje’s post-office legacy centered on philanthropy, religious advancement, and nation-building efforts.
