Niger organized labour meets JAC, vows to resolve gratuity concerns

Adelowo Oladipo, Minna

The leadership of organized labour in Niger State has met with members of the Joint Action Committee (JAC) to address concerns over delayed gratuity payments and other related welfare issues affecting workers in the state.

The meeting, held in Minna, was chaired by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) Chairman in the state, Comrade Idris Abdul Kareem Lafene, who assured the committee of organized labour’s readiness to take prompt action to resolve the matter.

He emphasized that the Niger State Governor remains committed to workers’ welfare and encourages dialogue as a means of addressing industrial concerns.

According to Lafene, the state government’s disposition to engagement and negotiation underscores its worker-friendly posture and willingness to find lasting solutions to labour-related challenges.

Speaking on behalf of the Joint Action Committee leadership, Alhaji Shaka Adaba expressed appreciation to organized labour in Niger State for responding swiftly to their concerns.

He reaffirmed the committee’s full support and loyalty to organized labour as they await a constructive resolution between labour leaders and the state government.
Comrade Lafene, while appreciating the confidence reposed in organized labour by the pressure group, pledged to intervene decisively to ensure that the issues raised, particularly gratuity payments, are adequately addressed.

The meeting was attended by key labour stakeholders, including the Vice Chairman of the NLC in Niger State, Comrade Abdullahi Erena, alongside leaders of various pressure groups.
End.
