Yuletide: NSCDC deploys 1,350 personnel in Kano

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has deployed 1,350 personnel across Kano State to enhance security during and after the Yuletide celebrations.

The State Commandant, Mohammed Hassan-Agalama, disclosed this during a press conference in Kano, saying the move was aimed at protecting lives, property and critical national assets amid increased human and vehicular activities associated with the festive season.

He explained that the deployment was in response to heightened travel, bustling market activities and large social gatherings usually recorded during the Yuletide period
.
According to Hassan-Agalama, the command has intensified its operational readiness to tackle crimes such as phone snatching, thuggery, banditry, kidnapping attempts and other forms of public disorder.

He said personnel had been strategically positioned across urban, peri-urban and rural areas identified as crime-prone, adding that tactical teams and rapid response units were also deployed for continuous foot and overt patrols.

“The patrols cover entry and exit points, markets, major highways, motor parks and other public places across the state,” the commandant said.

He further noted that intelligence sharing and operational coordination with other security agencies had been strengthened to ensure effective joint responses to security threats.

Hassan-Agalama urged residents, market associations, transport unions, religious bodies and traditional rulers to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities to security agencies.

He warned vandals and criminal elements against tampering with public or private property, stressing that breaches of peace would not be tolerated.

“The corps is fully prepared to deal decisively with miscreants and bring them to justice,” he said.

The commandant assured residents of Kano State of the NSCDC’s commitment to professionalism and effective service delivery throughout the Yuletide season and beyond.
