Vice President Kashim Shettima on Friday commissioned the newly built multi-million-naira Juma’at Mosque located within the Gumel Emir’s Palace in Jigawa State.

The commissioning ceremony, according to a statement on Saturday issued by Hajiya Zainab Rabo, Senior Special Assistant on Media Affairs to Governor Umar Namadi, drew prominent political figures, first-class traditional rulers, industry leaders and Islamic scholars from across the country.

The mosque was constructed by the Kashim Shettima Foundation as part of its community development interventions. Governor Umar A. Namadi and the Sultan of Sokoto were among the dignitaries present at the event described as “epoch-making”.

Vice President Shettima used the occasion to congratulate the Emir of Gumel on marking his 45th anniversary on the throne, praising his contributions to the growth and stability of the historic emirate.

“Your Highness, I want to use this opportunity to congratulate you for witnessing 45 years on the throne as Emir of the historic city of Gumel,” Shettima said.

He reaffirmed the commitment of his foundation to improving the welfare of Nigerians, noting that more development-focused interventions would be pursued.

Shettima also commended Governor Namadi for what he described as far-reaching reforms in the agricultural sector, which he said had positioned Jigawa State as a competitive force within and beyond Nigeria.

“Governor Namadi is equal to the task, looking at his two-year achievements and the way he transformed Jigawa into a hub of modern agriculture,” the statement quoted him as saying.
