Zamfara Governor Presents N861bn ‘Budget of Stability and Growth’ for 2026

Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, on Thursday presented an N861 billion proposed budget for the 2026 fiscal year to the State House of Assembly, describing it as a strategic roadmap for transformation and a declaration of the state’s resolve to “rise stronger.”

Presenting the proposal in Gusau, Governor Lawal disclosed that the budget—tagged “Budget of Stability and Growth”—allocates an unprecedented 83% (N714 billion) to capital expenditure, leaving 17% (N147.2 billion) for recurrent costs.

He noted that the capital-heavy proposal reflects his administration’s commitment to rebuilding infrastructure, revamping critical sectors, and accelerating development across all communities.

Breakdown of the sectoral allocations shows N65 billion for education, N87 billion for health, N86 billion for agriculture, N45 billion for public order and safety, N22 billion for environmental protection, and N17 billion for social protection.

Governor Lawal said the budget aligns with the administration’s Six-Point Rescue Agenda, which focuses on strengthening security, modernising agriculture, improving healthcare delivery, expanding access to quality education, fast-tracking infrastructure renewal, and empowering youth, women, and vulnerable groups.
