…Prioritises infrastructure, inclusive growth and sustainability

By Kola Oyelere, Kano

Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, on Tuesday presented a N1.368 trillion budget proposal for the 2026 fiscal year to the State House of Assembly

He however tagged it as a financial plan designed to accelerate infrastructure expansion, deepen inclusive growth and entrench sustainable development across the state.

Presenting the appropriation bill tagged “Budget of Infrastructure, Inclusive Growth and Sustainable Development,” Governor Yusuf said the proposal was crafted to complete major ongoing projects, consolidate gains recorded in key sectors, and introduce new initiatives that would further boost the state’s socio-economic transformation.

According to him, the N1,368,127,929,271 budget allocates a substantial portion to capital development in line with his administration’s commitment to addressing infrastructure gaps and improving public services.

He urged lawmakers to give the proposal accelerated consideration to enable timely implementation of developmental programmes in the coming fiscal year.

The Speaker of the House,Hon Jibril Fagore in his remarks, commended the governor for his commitment to transparency and people-centred governance, assuring that the Assembly would carry out a thorough and speedy review of the budget.
