We will uphold PIA to boost global oil, gas investment — Speaker Abbas

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, has reaffirmed Nigeria’s unwavering commitment to upholding the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) as a foundation for strengthening investor confidence and driving growth in the nation’s oil and gas sector.

The Chairman, House Committee on Petroleum Resources (Upstream) Hon. Alhassan Ado Doguwa made this known in a statement signed and made available to press in Kano

However,Hon Doguwa who spoke on behalf of the Speaker of House Representative gave the assurance during the Global Conference on Project 1MMBOPD Incremental Production of Oil in the Nigerian Petroleum Sector, held on Tuesday at the Dorchester Hotel, Central Business District, London, United Kingdom.

Doguwa explained that the high-level conference provided a platform for engagement with global investment partners with the goal of boosting Nigeria’s upstream production capacity and expanding business opportunities in the sector.

“This forum provides a great opportunity for investors in Nigeria’s oil and gas sector,” Doguwa said. “As a legislative institution, we have assured prospective investors that we remain determined and committed to promoting and protecting the sanctity of the PIA as the overarching legal framework governing the industry.”

He further noted that the initiative, spearheaded by the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC), aligns with the 10th House of Representatives’ Legislative Agenda and the Renewed Hope Economic Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, aimed at revitalizing Nigeria’s
