Takai’s appointment will uplift Kano’s poor masses — APC Kwankwaso

Kola Oyelere, Kano

The appointment of former All Nigeria People’s Party (ANPP) governorship candidate, Mallam Salihu Sagir Takai, as Kano State Coordinator of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, has been described as a major step towards improving the lives of the state’s poor and vulnerable population.

Reacting to the development, Alhaji ( Dr(Musa Illiyasu Kwankwaso, Director of Finance at the Hadejia Jama’are River Basin Development Authority, praised both President Tinubu and the Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau Jibrin, for facilitating Takai’s appointment.

Kwankwaso expressed optimism that the appointment would further endear President Tinubu to the people of Kano, saying it was a politically strategic move that could secure massive support for the President in future elections.

He also emphasized that the series of appointments given to Kano indigenes under the Tinubu administration reflect a fair and inclusive governance approach.

In a press statement issued in Kano, Kwankwaso , who also a chieftain of All Progressives Congress ( APC)said Senator Barau’s efforts in convincing the President to select Takai demonstrate a genuine intention to uplift poverty-stricken citizens in the state.

“Senator Barau Jibrin and indeed President Tinubu deserve commendation. Barau’s ability to influence this appointment shows his commitment to the wellbeing of Kano’s indigent population, while the President’s approval confirms his sincerity in addressing the needs of the masses,” Kwankwaso stated.

He further lauded Senator Barau’s record of promoting qualified Kano indigenes for federal appointments, adding that his performance and popularity have positioned him as a strong contender for the state’s top political seat in 2027.

Describing Takai as a man of integrity, discipline, and strong faith, Kwankwaso recalled that former Governor Mallam Ibrahim Shekarau endorsed him as ANPP’s sole governorship candidate in 2011 due to his honesty and prudent leadership.

“In all the positions he has held—whether as a Local Government Chairman or Commissioner—Takai has never been found wanting. He has always served with transparency and maturity,” he added.

“We heartily thank President Tinubu for his foresight. His decisions are winning the hearts of Kano people and will translate into overwhelming support in 2027,” he said.

“President Tinubu means well for everyone. Kano people are with him now, and we assure him of their continued support in the coming years,” Kwankwaso concluded.
