Take charge of your future — Egbedun to Graduates

The Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Adewale Egbedun, has admonished graduates to take charge of their futures, stressing that the journey ahead is filled with opportunities for those who are determined to shape their own paths.
He gave the admonition on Sunday while delivering the Commencement Lecture of the 11th Undergraduate and 7th Postgraduate Convocation of the Adeleke University, Osogbo.
However,in  his lecture, titled, “The Future is Yours to Shape,” Egbedun congratulated the graduating students, stating, “You should take pride in knowing that you stand out among your peers.”
Egbedun who underscored the importance of this moment,then  describe  graduation as a “significant launchpad into your future, a moment for reflection and renewed determination.”
He  urged graduates to define success on their own terms, adding that, “In a world that often equates success with wealth or status, remember that true fulfilment comes from pursuing your passions.”
He also encouraged the students to reflect on what drives them and to align their careers with their values, stating, “This self-awareness will serve as your compass in navigating life’s complexities.”
Drawing from his personal experiences, he shared a tale of resilience.
According to him,” I ran for the House of Assembly in 2019 and faced defeat. However, I remained focused on my dream of making a difference in my community,” he recounted.
Egbedun who then shared his success in 2023, when he won the election and was elected speaker, emphasising that “the journey toward your goals will not always be smooth.”
He also highlighted the significance of building a supportive network.
“Seek mentors, peers, and friends who inspire you and challenge you to become your best self,” he advised.
Egbedun expressed his confidence in the graduates’ potential, pointing out that, “The world is eager for your unique contributions, and I have no doubt you will make a profound impact.”
He reminded them that, “The future is bright, and it is yours to shape.”
