The management of Kano Electricity Distribution Company, (KEDCO) has given update on power shortage in Kano, Jigawa and Katsina adding that it has been further reviewed downward to an average of 130MW.
Accordingly, the  management stated that 130MW is grossly inadequate to supply all KEDCO’s customers, and as such, it engaged in massive load shedding and rationing across its feeders, regrettably causing power shortage.
On Sunday ,the Management in
a statement, said a tripping of one of the 330kV Shirioro-Kaduna transmission lines around 6:00am, today is the reason for further reduction in allocation to the company’s franchise, comprising Kano, Jigawa and Katsina states.

KEDCO recalled that it earlier communicated limitation on the transmission lines as a result of fault on the Uguaji-Makurdi-Jos transmission lines, causing reduction in our allocation from over 300MW to an average of 167MW, adding that “today, the allocation dropped as low as 130MW”.

The statement reads :”We assure our esteemed customers that we are in constant communication with the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), and they are currently working diligently to restore the affected lines.”

“We sincerely apologize for all the inconveniences caused as a result of the power shortage,” the statement concluded.
